Burning PermitBefore you burn

Before you burn

Use this with the permit from your town. It is a reminder, not a permit, and it does not override a fire department closure.

Choose a Maine town
  1. The fire will be inside the town whose page you opened.
  2. You finished that town's own application and can show the result.
  3. You read that town's conditions for today. If they say closed, do not burn.
  4. You looked at the Maine Forest Service fire danger report when the burn is in Maine.
  5. Water, tools, and a clear space are ready before the fire is lit.
  6. Someone can stay with the fire until it is out.
  7. You know how to reach the local fire department if the fire gets away.
